When should I take a pregnancy test? The results of a pregnancy test are most accurate when taken at least one week after your missed period. During pregnancy, your body produces the hormone hCG. A pregnancy test measures the amount of hCG in your urine. Your body needs time to register the higher hCG levels. If you take the test too soon, you could get a false positive. Whether or not you have taken a home test, you can make an appointment today to confirm your pregnancy.

Do I really need an ultrasound?Yes. An ultrasound is important because it provides valuable information about your pregnancy. It answers three questions: Is the pregnancy viable (is there a detectable heartbeat)? How far along is the pregnancy? Where is the pregnancy located? If you are considering an abortion, you need to know the answers to all three questions to determine what type of abortion you can have.

Is the morning after pill the same as the abortion pill?Plan B, or the morning-after pill, is a form of emergency contraception. Emergency contraception is any type of birth control used after unprotected intercourse or contraceptive failure created to prevent pregnancy. One of the most common emergency contraceptive pills is called Plan B One-Step®. The abortion pill, also known as RU-486, induces a medical or chemical abortion and is an option for women up to 10-11 weeks past their last known menstrual period. Come see us for information on emergency contraceptives and the abortion pill. We can provide free pregnancy testing and help you determine your next steps.

What is the abortion pill? The abortion pill, also called medication abortion, is an early-termination procedure. It requires you to take two drugs designed to end and expel the pregnancy. This abortion method can only be performed before the tenth-eleventh week of pregnancy. The first drug blocks your body’s production of progesterone which is needed for the embryo to survive. The second pill causes contractions to expel the pregnancy. Because there are side effects and risks involved, be sure to talk with us for more information. Before taking the abortion pill, contact us for a free ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy and find out how far along you are. You should not take the abortion pill if the pregnancy occurs outside the uterus or if you are more than 10-11 weeks past your LMP (first day of last period.) An ultrasound is the only way to determine viability and gestation.
-
Can I order the abortion pill online? The first drug administered is highly regulated by the FDA due to the risk involved. Previously, because of the risk, a woman was required to have a doctor’s oversight. In order to obtain the drug, she needed to visit a hospital, clinic, or medical office. In July of 2020, due to COVID-19, a federal judge suspended that rule. Healthcare providers nationwide are now able to mail or deliver the abortion pill to patients for the remainder of the COVID-19 public health emergency. However, they must comply with the respective state rules on abortion. Before ordering the abortion pill, contact us for a free ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy and find out how far along you are. You should not take the abortion pill if the pregnancy occurs outside the uterus or if you are more than 10-11 weeks past your LMP. An ultrasound is the only way to determine viability and gestation.
